"'The Bigger Picture' is the debut LP from Inigo Kennedy, the man who brought us 'The Gauntlet' (Techno single of the month in Mixmag, Wax and Jockey Slut) last December. It is also the first artist album release from Missile and they have chosen well. Kennedy has managed to put together an album that should gain respect from both techno purists and also those who are easily bored by the purist approach. 'Rude Interruption' is hard, spiky and frenetic, making it the most obvious dancefloor bomb. Tracks like 'Smooth Running' and the excellent 'Watching, Waiting' (which Kennedy decided to include on the album after listening to it in an airport departure lounge) wouldn't sound out of place on Two Lone Swordsmen's last album. 'Escape (To The Sea)' is a long, blissful, melodic (but still techno) epic which sounds like the soundtrack to a scuba-diving trip with Luke Slater and The Orb. All in all things are looking good for Inigo Kennedy and Missile." Mark EG |

"Why oh why please god do I love this guys stuff so much? WHY?!!! Inigo Kennedy is so very clever, following no-one, sounding like no-one. In the early days, his production was much harder but recently he's matured quickly into a real artist, capable of producing albums such as this. Expect real techno, raw but perfectly crafted - hard but beautifully so. And such clever use of distortion in the mix. A work of art." 10/10 Mark EG |

"Since his teenage years, Inigo Kennedy has been on a mission to make uncompromising electronic music, and, through sheer hard work, a generous helping of talent and unflinching determination has reached his goal, putting out techno on a number of underground imprints. On 'The Bigger Picture' Kennedy realizes these goals through a series of non-formulaic techno, material that ditches the well worn tribal loop in favour of hard, squelchy beats, tough and effective dance floor stuff. However, the real stand out material on 'Picture' isn't the banging, peak time action music; making a concession of sorts to his new audience, Kennedy's exploration of the soothing side of techno on 'Watching, Waiting', as well as the haunting tones of 'Pumping Numbers' and the off beat metallic rhythms of 'Escape (To The Sea)', prove that, unlike his loop obsessed peers Inigo Kennedy really does see the bigger picture." www.etronik.co.uk |

"At times, Tim Taylor's Missile and London DJ/producer Inigo Kennedy have seemed the oddest of bedfellows, a situation epitomised by the label's backing of weirdbeat 10-inch 'Spaghettification' a few years ago. 'The Bigger Picture', however, is the industrious Kennedy's 50th release in around 5 years and it sees him build upon his three previous Missile missives to the point wherer it begins to make sense. Inigo's techno is generally hard and hypnotic, but the 12 cuts here are beyond such oversimplification. In particular there's the intriguing hi-hat patterns of the abrasive 'Departure', the belated bottom-end work of 'Smooth Running', the metallic riffing on 'Monolith', supreme composition in the relentless 'Rude Interruption' and frequencies dredged up from the sea bed on 'Escape'. Add maudlin moments like 'Watching, Waiting' and a virtual nod to classic Missile in the Poindexter-esque 'Body Electric', and 'The Bigger Picture' becomes a sweet and sour rounded collection of assured UK techno." "I'm certain that most of us tech-heads own at least one record by Inigo Kennedy, one of the most productive producers the last couple of years. With his distinct own sound his music has rocked dancefloors all over the world. Lately Inigo has progressed from the minimal banging techno to more and more intelligent but still driving music. "The Bigger Picture" is a perfect example of this progression. The whole album consists of eleven tracks, from deep suggestive techno through oldschool Detroit-ish to very driving minimal tracks and this without loosing the red line. It starts out with "Departure" which is just brilliant! Broken beats, cutting sounds and beautiful strings. Third on the album is "Rude Interruption" and just as the title says its a rude interruption. It hammers it's way through the beautiful tracks before it with its banging rhythm and sounds that reminds me of sounds in a submarine. The last track, "Edge" is my personal favourite. It got a tribal rhythm and over that a very abstract string piece which is just so beautiful! I could go on ranting this record but I won't, you should give it a listen yourself! Inigo is one of the few people able to see the bigger picture!" Grovskopa |

"Inigo Kennedy re-visits Tim Taylor's Missile label once again with another astonishing 2xLP (8 tracks) and highly limited twelve inch (4 tracks) pushing the limits of techno once again with 12 tracks that will not only please hard techno enthusiasts but at the same time should also please the chin stroking minimal folks with his trade marked sub bassy offbeat rhythms followed by subtle chords and shifty hi hats that pushes this album to another level leaving a new mark on the techno community. If you are really following the Techno scene at all right now then you'll know that not only is the UK on fire right now, but this man is putting out some of the most brilliant stuff that is definitely different than just your average run of the *MILLS* type tracks. Get with the program and learn what direction techno is heading or should be heading and buy this album when it is available out in June 2001. This release will also be followed up by a very limited twelve shorty after the LP comes out which is in the realaudio here. If your not a vinyl fan, be sure to grab the 12 track CD when it comes out!" N-Side Records |

"Missile’s first artist LP demonstrates a great bestowming of faith in London’s Inigo Kennedy, the UK techno artist who throughout the course of 50 releases has received airplay from John Peel and Colin Faver, and found his records pumping through the soundsystems of Ultimate Base, the Rotter’s Golf Club and techno events worldwide. Kennedy’s fascination with the inner workings of technology apparently extends way back into his infancy, and led to a love of the early electronic music of Depeche Mode and Jean Michel Jarre. Such a preoccupation explains the patchwork of electronic frequencies that form the melodic layers of these predominantly minimal dancefloor tech-jams. Yet Kennedy’s ability clearly outshines simply producing DJ fodder. Here the minimalism is the result of subtle tweaking and sound forging that allows ‘The Bigger Picture’ to be an altogether more cerebral experience - the quality evident in the range of moods and mindscapes he has managed to create. As with many of Kennedy’s previous releases, you can often hear the tribal thunder booming at the bottom end of the tracks, as in 'Rude Interruption' and 'Edge', broken up with carefully programmed electronic vibrations scattered through the track. 'Departure' and 'Smooth Running' retain these elements, but the tracks are imbued with emotional texture by the soothing chords and ghostly sweeps that lie just beneath the edginess. This underlying gentleness acts as the perfect foil to the searing hats, claps and kicks that punctuate Kennedy’s rhythmic onslaughts. This combination that endows the album with a wonderful sense of depth, most notably with 'Escape To The Sea' which marries hypnotic bells with distant synth sweeps, gradually combining to emulate the lapping of waves against shoreline. Elsewhere 'Watching, Waiting' strikes a vein of gentle, childlike experimentation, sounding something like a Dolphin beatboxing over futuristic electro beats! Original, versatile and immaculately crafted, Kennedy has produced a techno artist album of high quality, capable of satisfying the demands of both the head and the dancefloor." www.brixton.co.uk |

"Tak máme tu nové album jedné z významných postav soucasné techno scény Inigo Kennedy. Album bylo nazváno „The Bigger Picture“ a obsahuje celkem 12 tracku v celkové délce skoro 69 minut. Album je velmi ruznorodé a propracované, obsahuje spíše poslechové veci, ikdyž se najde nejaký ten výplach, ale tech je na tom to albu opravdu poskromnu, spíše tu najdeme inteligetní poslechove techno, které místy zní velmi hrave je velmi chytlavé. Puvodne jsem cekal techno nárez, ale Inigo potvrdil, že hudbu delá skvele a jeho tracky mají hlavu a patu. Album vyjde v cervnu." www.rave.sk |

"The bigger picture indeed, with 12 tracks of funk induced mesmeric rhythms and skamish ambient textures, showcasing Inigo's talents as a great electronic musician. Apparently the vinyl version will only feature 8 tracks and then an EP of the remaining 4 tracks will be released separately later in the year as a limited edition." www.virtualfuturemusic.com |

"You've got to admire Inigo Kennedy. Unflichingly determined to get his head around the art of making electronic music from a young age, the UK producer has realised his dreams through commitment, hard work and a talent for making unpredictable, non-formulaic techno. 'Bigger Picture' is Kennedy's debut album and it certainly lives up to its title. Rather than put out a collection of tribal loops, as is too often the want nowadays, Kennedy focuses on a number of styles. That's not to say that 'Picture' ignores the demands of the dance floor, as there's enough peak-time banging material here to keep the techno DJ happy. However, the stand out material here isn't beholden to the vagaries of peak-time action. The off beat metallic rhythms and Detroit signatures of 'Escape (To The Sea)', the soothing and emotive electronic listening tones of 'Watching, Waiting' and haunting linear grooves on 'Pumping Numbers' prove that, more than most of his loops obsessed peers, Inigo Kennedy sees the bigger picture." 4.5/5 DJ Magazine |
