MOL014 Inigo Kennedy
Spatial EP
MOL014 (Molecular)
12" (January 1998)

(A1) Space #1
(B1) Space #2 (B2) Space #3

"Main track is a roboscitric soundscape, overlaid with the best in electrnic beeps and bleeps, constantly driven with a deep , hard pounding bass line and those Chicago handclaps, creative and innovative. B-Side features two other tracks not as thumping as the A-Side but still worthy of serious attention. First is a twisted groove that builds, tearing open, and all the time introducing change that will keep a crowd itching for more. Finally there is a much deeper techno-house cut, with keys and strings, then a squeeze of warehouse flava, with the use of sporadic effects. 10/10"

"A bit of a surprise, many of Inigo's releases have been too abrasive for most dance floors. However, this release keeps the grit, but injects it with some soul, making for a very quality release. Space 1 is thick with layers and melodies. A great one to use when peaking out your set. All of the many lines combine together to create a hard hitting techno soup that will burn a few mouths. The first Space 2 (not sure if it is a misprint, but two songs are called Space 2) strips it down, somewhat, while keeping the relentless bass kick. The second Space 2 calms down even more and leaves a driving track, well tempered by intelligent programming. The subtle changes going on throughout the entire song drag you in and shake you. It is not easy to combine the bang with the soul, but Inigo has done it and done it well."

"Some building minimal techno from this producer who has released material on the Zet and Missile labels. All three tracks do a nice job of fading several different synth lines and sounds in & out of each track with the best being the funky b1 cut. Fans of Downwards, Zet, Sheep and Missile know what to expect here."

"Jeff Mills once said there shouldn't be techno singles reviews, just a listing of new releases, presumably implying that the looped rhythm tracks he uses so well are minimal to the point of being beyond description. I know what he means."
DJ Magazine March 1998

"Excellent new techno banger from this Missile and Zet recording artist that is one of the better ones we've heard."
WATTS

"Questo disco dal nome SPATIAL EP contiene in totale 3 tracce. Credo che sia uno dei dischi piu belli che Inigo ha fatto."

"Two dancefloor stompers and one more minimal track. Very cleanly produced techno with some thought. The boy is good. 9/10"

"Two straightforward tracks and one funky track. AA1 'Space 2' has two good build-ups that leads to a detroit sounding slam mixed with some dark machine synths that keep building in the background. AA2 'Space 2' funky slam that has a clean deep sound to it...but not my style. A1 'Space 1' long track that has a pretty percussive start with a pretty normal kick that starts to get deeper and more wobbly as it goes, then some electronic 'r2d2' sounds start tweaking in and out for some mind fucking material. Toward the end you get some serious tweak that'll put your head in a real tailspin, but the track is cut a little short, just a few seconds longer would have been nice, mix fast!"

"Sehr bratzig diese drei Tracks, und aus der Monotonie nicht soviel entwickelt, wenn auch stellenweise richtig bedrängend. Einzig der housiger letzte Track kickt mit einer gewissen Würde und Kratzbüstigkeit die Sinn macht. aber irgendwie klingt das alles etwas hastig."
