"Respected as both a DJ and a producer in the fields of electronic and techno music and with almost one hundred releases already to his name, Inigo Kennedy could be forgiven for taking it easy. Yet 'Transaction' is not just a new album but a consistently excellent one, which manages to convey the powers of humanity just as much as it confirms his technical expertise.

Opening track 'Passing Doorways' conjures up images of futuristic cityscapes amidst an inspired mix of whirrs, clicks, breakbeats and celestial melody. 'Runway Dreams' is a noticeably darker, dub-inflected journey, which gives the unmistakeable impression that danger is lurking around every corner. Menace is replaced by sadness and romantic longing for 'Quirky Night'; serving as ideal accompaniment for Junior Boys' outstanding 'Last Exit' album. The wintry chill of 'Ideas Arriving' is another moving passage of music and the haunting, shimmering power of 'Faraway Towns' ensures the compelling music continues right through to the end of the record. So although 'Transaction' may be wordless, its techno melodies suggest a very different (but no less persuasive) kind of soul music."

"A London-based musician and DJ who has released an impressive amount of records under various aliases on countless labels, including his own, Asymmetric, Inigo Kennedy delivers here a sumptuous collection of electronic pieces for Rednetic. Spread over almost forty minutes, the seven tracks forming the backbone of this release go from beautifully crafted dreamy down-tempo compositions (Passing Doorways, It’s Complicated, A Timeless State) to raging techno moments (Runway Dreams, Quirky Night) without for a moment threatening the finely tuned balance of this album.

All the way through, Kennedy assembles incredibly complex compositions yet manages to retain the melodic aspect of each piece. Passing Doorways sets the standard for the rest of Transaction. Here, Kennedy brings together a haunting melody, sharp glitches and vast soundscapes into a tortured piece, articulating them around three distinct sections expertly jointed together.

Both Runway Dreams and Quirky Night hint at a much more dance floor-orientated approach, which wouldn’t have sounded out of place on any Dust Science releases. While a crisp driving beat rolls over moody analogue waves on Runway Dreams, creating a sharp hypnotic piece, Quirky Night introduces a much lighter tone. At times reminiscent of B12 or early Black Dog, the spirit of Detroit is perhaps much more palpable here than anywhere else on this record. The last four remaining tracks bring the pace down drastically, with Kennedy exploring different atmospheric settings, from the dreamy It’s Complicated and A Timeless State to the more earthy Ideas Arriving and Faraway Towns. Transaction is a truly stunning collection of beautifully produced electronica which is likely to leave any admirer of the genre wanting more. Much much more."

"London-born DJ / producer Inigo Kennedy has certainly amassed a formidable past resume of work, with almost 100 releases under his belt for labels including Audiobulb, Molecular Recordings and his own Asymmetric imprint, under his own name, as Tomito Satori (his harsh industrial project) and as the more experimental loop-based Reducer. During this time, he’s managed to attract the patronage of Jeff Mills, who expressed ‘serious interest’ in his Reducer tracks and also cultivate a busy DJ schedule that regularly takes him around the world, particularly to Central Europe, apparently his most devoted audience. This seven-track mini-album represents Kennedy’s first release on Rednetic and shows him exploring a considerably diverse range of moods, ranging from elegant glitchy IDM through to more propulsive minimal techno offerings.

Opening track ‘Passing Doorways’ certainly bears more than a passing resemblance to Plaid and Autechre with its oceanic drift of harsh contorted textures and flickering pops, but it’s brought into vivid life by the addition of delicately wavering organs and windchime-like tones, adding a human element that stamps personality onto the electronics. ‘Runway Dreams’ meanwhile opts for sinister night-drive atmospherics that certainly call to mind the brooding nocturnal electro explorations of Detroit progenitors such as Juan Atkins, while the forlorn ‘A Timeless State’ even reveals a touch of downbeat jazz lurking in its languid bass pads and shimmering melodic tones. Easily one of the strongest Rednetic releases I’ve encountered so far, ‘Transaction’ shows Kennedy’s emotional commitment to his work clearly seeping through on every track here."

"A fluke encounter leading up to a brilliant release, this mini-album stretching seven tracks long is filled with superb production exemplifying: melodic electronic music with grit. The balance between the pure bliss of harmony, lovely constructed melodies and the straight-forward, as compelling as they are convincing beats all deeply rooted on the other side of the Atlantic ocean meaning the motor city! Don’t make the mistake, these seven tracks are as good as it gets, contemporary electronic music with warmth, bass and production reaching for the higher ground. In all honesty there’s only one criticism to put forward regarding this release and that is the actual count of tracks… seven tracks is far to few. It’s about five tracks short given the Compact Disc format, but then again I wouldn’t be surprised if Inigo Kennedy returns to Rednetic in the near future. And I for one surely hope so and I might add the sooner the better. What ever you do get this release immediately and you will not be disappointed!"

"Inigo Kennedy's Techno background shines through on this release like a beacon of light... quite simply it's a brilliant bit of electronic music that covers the crunchier, more 'Electronica' side of things whilst adding in some tracks that are deep, dark 4/4 Techno of the highest quality. Wicked programming and some seiously clicked out rhythms lock horns with wonderfully atmospheric, almost sculptural, you might say, textures and layers of sound. A fabulous piece of work and at this price you really can't argue at all! Recommended."

Přestože jde o křištálově čistou elektroniku, silné melodie a plochy jakoby vás oslovovaly přívětivým a laskavým lidským hlasem."

"Londoner Inigo Kennedy is a well known techno DJ and producer. Few people know about his other activities which include the production of more listening orientated electronic music. His first electronica CD has just been released on a relatively new British label Rednetic. It contains seven tracks so it can be considered a mini-album. It's an interesting mixture of ambient tracks with slow broken beats and two techno tracks, Runway Dreams and Quirky Night, the mood of which fits perfectly into the concept. Those who know Inigo's techno productions are well aware of how important atmosphere and deepness in music are to him. Here he is given much more space and freedom to use them and you can hear the result. Forty minutes of dreamy and melancholic music are topped by the seventh track, Faraway Towns, which simply gives me goosebumps. Overall I think it is a very mature album perfect not only in sound but content too. Although it is crystal clear electronica, the strong melodies and textures seem to talk to you with a friendly and warm human voice."

"Inigo Kennedy's first release on Rednetic is an inventive and compelling selection of tracks that blur the boundaries between techno, electronica and glitch. This musical journey has a coherent techno foundation with moments reminiscent of the finest early work of Richie Hawtin, while remaining current with some beautiful glitched fragments"
